Half Finished

 

I was drawing my office/studio when the heat became too much for me, so this was left half finished.

One Truck, Two Takes

 

Who would think that these two drawings came from the same photograph?  I did the drawings and I can hardly believe it myself LOL.  I wonder what the photographer @mozarts_ride will think when he sees them?

I spotted this nice old 1951 Ford F-1 Pickup truck, while driving the back roads of west Texas. "Miss Anne" was resting proudly in her owners front yard, and I was happy to squeeze off a few shots of her. She looks like she could still one day roll down the road again.... 😎,,, Did you know... "The first-generation F-Series was marketed in eight different chassis (based on their GVWR), giving them their model names; the F-1 was the lightest-capacity version with the F-8 as the highest. F-1 through F-3 pickup trucks were offered (forming the basis for panel trucks) and the bare F-3 chassis served as the basis for a parcel delivery truck. The heavier-duty F-4 chassis was produced as a light-duty commercial truck. The F-5 and F-6 were produced as medium-duty trucks in three configurations, a conventional, a COE/cab-over (as the C-Series), and a school bus chassis (as the B-Series, no bodywork rear of the firewall). Miss Lois - a Great Gangster Car

 

On Instagram, photographer @mozarts_ride says that this would have made a great gangster car.  

Here's his entire description for those who want the whole story:

1928-31 Ford Model A... I spotted "Miss Lois" while driving the back roads in Nevada. She's located at nice place for all to enjoy and photograph. Her days on the road are longer over, but she's got some great patina and is looking nice.... She would have made a great Gangster Car, back in the day... 😎.... "One of the most popularly recognized cars used by famous gangsters of the 1920s, as well as, the 1930s, was the 1932 Ford Model 18 V8. This favored vehicle, or what was known as a Ford Automobile at the time, was famously driven by John Dillinger and Bonnie & Clyde. (Google) ...

Miss Violet

 

Once again, this was sketched from a photo taken by @mozarts_ride.  On Instagram he says:

1941 Dodge Military Jeep/truck... I spotted "Miss Violet" while visiting Nevada.. She's in fair shape, but rests in an amazing location. You could tell she had been driven hard and put up wet. While she may not travel the roads again, she rest in a nice location for all to enjoy.... 😎 "The Dodge WC series, sometimes nicknamed 'Beeps' were a prolific range of light 4WD and medium 6WD military utility trucks, produced by Dodge / Fargo during World War II...Together with the 1⁄4-ton jeeps produced by Willys and Ford, the Dodge 1⁄2‑tons and 3⁄4‑tons made up nearly all of the light 4WD trucks supplied to the U.S. military in WWII – with Dodge contributing some 337,500 4WD units over half as many as the jeep.... Colour First, then the Drawing

 

This was another fun challenge courtesy of the Vancouver Urban Sketchers Group.  I used a natural sponge to clean out my palette, then headed out to Cambie Street to see what I could find.  This scooter was parked right by a bench in the shade - I couldn't ask for anything better!

Miss Marguerite

 

Miss Marguerite is a 1936 Chevy Pickup.  Here's what @mozarts_ride has to say about his photo on instagram:

1936 Chevy Pickup.. I spotted "Miss Marguerite" on the morning I was heading out of Prescott to go camping for 5 weeks in the Rocky Mountains. I spoke to the owner and it's his daily ride. How cool that is to have a 1936 Chevy truck for your daily ride... Love how he is letting the exterior age... 😎 "The truck was a half-ton and had a 112-inch wheelbase... "It was extra long and wide, and provided you wilth extraordinary load capacity for its time. Its low appearance is trim and handsome, and provides ample road clearance. It's fast and exceptionally easy to handle, with the lowest operating and upkeep cost found in any truck of this type." (GM Heritage Center, Original 1936 Cheverolet Advertisement brochure)..
