Change was on my mind as I worked on this page in my calligraphy journal.  Particularly I'm thinking about getting older, the aches and pains associated with that, and how I'm not doing it very gracefully.

Sharing Links

Here are a few more links to keep the Daisy Yellow mission alive.

Rainbow Elephant has great doodle patterns.  I love the free ebook on doodling birds.

Use Every Stamp 2013.  I'm on a mission to use some of those stamps that haven't seen ink for awhile (or ever).  This blog is an inspiration to keep going and share with others who are using and organizing their stamps too.

Artful Blogging:  She had me hooked with the "Seussisms".  Wisdom by Dr. Seuss never grows old!

Radish Blossoms.  I love her "Here Comes the Bus" art journal.

Visual Blessings  Check out the "A to Z of Me" Moleskine Journal Pages.  Great lettering and color without paint!

Silly Scraps Saturday

Week 3 of Silly Scraps Saturday.  You're starting to get used to this, right?

It's crazy busy around here with Canadian tax season, which runs until April 30, but I did manage to finish a page in my Calligraphy Journal.  Love was the theme this week, with the Boston Marathon bombings on my mind.  In the end, you can see that love prevails, though.

Sharing the Link Love (Again)

Sharing more links I love!

Art Projects for Kids  there are lots of cool projects here for kids of any age!  (OK, including me.)

Jane Davies is a fabulous collage and paint artist.  There are lots of wonderful tutorial videos on her blog.

StampingMathilda:  a great place for rubber stamping inspiration!

Geninne's Art Blog If you like watercolours or birds, check this out!

http://bigganed.blogspot.ca/  I love her cards, even if I can't understand a word she says LOL  Pictures are the universal language, for sure!

More next week.  Thanks to Daisy Yellow for this great mission.

Calligraphy Journal

I finished another page in my Calligraphy Journal.  I'm finding that the first few entries on a page are the hardest.  Once the options are limited it gets easier to figure out what to do next.

The daffodil stamp is hand carved.

One Good Friend

This card is a bit of an experiment, using distress inks on canvas paper.  I like the texture, the colours not so much.  I guess distress inks aren't exactly clear and vibrant, though.  I do like the design, and will use it again.

Calligraphy Journal

I've started a new journal!  OK, don't laugh.  I know, another one.  The big news will be when I actually FINISH a journal.

This one is going to be full of calligraphy.  It is almost 9" x 12" and was inspired by Martha Lever's "BIG" journal.

I wasn't able to buy locally the journal that she uses, so I bought a Fabriano pad of nice smooth paper which is squared with dots.  This will help the writing stay straight.  Unfortunately, the paper doesn't stay attached to the pad very well, and I could end up rebinding it with my Bind-It-All.  The paper is too thin for water-based media, but I'll have a chance to use pan pastels and stamps that I haven't used for awhile.

It takes awhile to fill up a page!

Unification Journal

These two pages in my Visual Journal definitely need unifying.  See how different the left page is from the right page?

And here's my attempt.  That's more like it!  I think. LOL

Share the Link Love

I hope I get this right.  I'm already late for this mission, but it is such a nice idea I hope Tammy at Daisy Yellow doesn't mind.  (If the pic doesn't link, try this: http://daisyyellowart.com/vividlife/share-the-link-love.html)

The mission is to share links that we love each week in April.  I follow many blogs, and they are so inspirational!  Here are some of my favourites, apart from Daisy Yellow, of course:

iHanna:  I've linked to iHanna before.  Her blog is full of collage, journals, photography and scrumptious PINK!

Martha Lever:  Martha inspires my love of calligraphy, but her blog shows her talents at painting as well.

Elvie Studio:  Another calligrapher I admire, Lori also dabbles in handmade books and stamp carving, two more of my passions.

My Grid and Inchie Projects:  I have a weakness for grids, and this lady sure knows how to do them well!

Simplicity:  Simply the best in simple greeting cards.  Susan is the queen of design, IMHO.

Hey, that was fun!  More next Sunday!

Silly Scraps Saturday

Welcome to Silly Scraps Saturday!  This soon to be regular event was inspired by iHanna's post "Every Artist Needs a Scrap Notebook".  I have a lot of scraps, and I love to make journals (we're not disclosing the latest count of those), so I immediately made a small journal using my Bind-It-All and started to make small, restrained collages.  iHanna promises that these will be good for my me and my art.  How small?  2 - 4 pieces, she advises.

I showed a few of the collages to my sister, Dianne, who said they were good enough for blog posting, and she suggested "Silly Scraps Saturday".  So here's the first!  If this Chiquita sticker isn't silly enough for you, then nothing is.  It says "Place sticker on forehead.  Smile."

Thanks to iHanna and Dianne for the inspiration!
