Tissue Paper - Faux Washi

Does anybody else have a large box/bag of white tissue paper from gifts or clothing purchases that they can't bear to throw away?  I see a few hands have gone up among you crafters.

I've been looking for something to do with this stuff for years, and suddenly my friends (real live and Internet) have been answering the call.

First, Heather at the stamp club showed us how to make fake washi paper:

Faux Washi

This is made by dropping random drops of dye re-inker on wet tissue paper (spray with water) and moving the colour around with a soft paintbrush.  A second sheet of tissue can be laid down to absorb some of the moisture and colour.   After drying, you bond the tissue to freezer paper and decorate with stamps.  (The freezer paper gives it a nice stable weight for further craft handling.)

I tried a similar thing with watercolour sprays and it also worked well.  Thanks, Heather!

I'll post another tissue paper technique soon!

Spring Daffodils

In a panic that nobody would want to trade my Ice Cream, Insects & Indigo Artist Trading Cards ("ATC") at the Vancouver ATC Group, I made a few with a hand carved daffodil stamp:

Insect and Indigo Collages

The April Design Challenge for the Vancouver Artist Trading Card Group is Ice Cream, Insects & Indigo.  You may choose any or all of the ideas (or invent your own).  My last three ATC's for the swap are collages:

More Insects and Indigo

The April Design Challenge for the Vancouver Artist Trading Card ("ATC") Group is Ice Cream, Insects & Indigo.  You may choose any or all of the ideas (or invent your own).   I previously posted an ATC on which I tried to include all three elements.  This time I left off the Ice Cream, and went with a butterfly stamp from Magenta:

Yes, another bookmark with glitter paper.  My last for awhile, I promise.  On this one I embossed inchie stamps and added some gel pen.

March Vintage Collage ATC Swap

I think it is safe to post my entries for the monthly vintage collage swap. Most people have received their cards already.

Turtles Read

I love to have many bookmarks around so that I can use one that matches the cover of the book I'm reading.  (I can hear the ladies from the stamp club roaring with laughter.)

Besides, I wanted to use that new glitter paper.   Glitter paper isn't usual for me at all, but I'm lovin' it.

Useful Paper Crafts

When the greeting card box is full, I look for another useful way to create with paper and stamps.  That's when the bookmarks get made.  Am I too practical or what?

Still Copying My Older Sister

My sister, Dianne, sent me a card recently.  Isn't it beautiful?

I liked it so much that I made my own version:

Happy Easter!

Here are two Easter cards I made with the same stamp.  On the first I mounted a second bunny on foam tape, and on the second I cut out elements of the collage and made inchies from them.  One Stamp, Two Looks.
Happy Easter, everyone!
