Sugar

Sugar mills and plantations play a large part in the history of Maui, Hawaii.  The last mill is closing at the end of this year, and the 36,000 acres planted in sugarcane will change.  So, after many visits to Maui, we finally visited the sugar museum.

The equipment they use for harvesting is huge!



Will the old post office survive?  The population of Pu'unene is now about 50.


And of course, I had to honor the visit in my sketchbook.  They had little hand carved stamps for the kids, so I included a couple.
