Fascinating History

The British had big plans for a railway joining vast areas. See the next post for an explanation.

  1. The Palestine railway ran from Suez to Beirut, with connections into Syria and Iraq. The borders closed in 1948 when Israel was granted statehood by the UN. Another wasted opportunity for commerce, travel and productive coexistence.
