#oneweek100people

This week, more than fifteen hundred people around the world participated in a challenge to draw one hundred people in a week.  We shared our efforts on Instagram and in a Facebook group.

I did all of my sketches in watercolour.  By Day Four I had completed 107!

My goal in participating was to gain comfort in drawing people on location,  and to get faster at it. This was accomplished by going for the big shapes in watercolour rather than getting bogged down with the detail that a pen can tempt.  I also learned to "see" a little better and to stop and think about the main thing that captures a human figure.  Perhaps it is their glasses or hat, their hair or the shape of a bright red shirt on a bicycle!
