Two of the February prompts for our Artist Trading Card group are divine intervention and dogs. I thought that putting those together would be impossible, until I found this quote on a site dedicated to the funny things that kids say.
Now, if I can just get through the ice and snow to the swap...
I do hope that I can, because our special guests this month are members from the Vancouver Urban Sketching group. I've been thinking about joining them.
Vancouver was enjoying a warm winter until February arrived. It was a chance for me to learn how to draw and paint snow.
The first 4" (10 cm) turned out to be just the beginning...
I was beginning to wonder where we were going to put it all.
After a bright sunny day, it began to retreat.
It started again, and after another few inches it turned to rain. Freezing temperatures are forecast to make a skating rink out of the slushy mess. And so our late winter continues.
The background for my calligraphy was done by drawing a heart on plastic with a Tombow Marker. I spritzed it with water before printing it on the paper.
I made this sketchbook from poster board. It isn't quite as thick as watercolor paper; we'll see if it makes a firm enough surface for sketching. The cover is folded in towards the centre making it double thickness, so if it isn't thick enough I can put another piece of cardboard inside the fold.
