Scrap Inspiration

Stamp by Kelly Panacci

I've been very inspired by the scrap projects at Some Fiddling on the Kitchen Table and at Stamping Mathilda lately.  Thanks so much, ladies, for your ongoing dedication to your blogs and for the inspiration they provide.  Prayers are happening for a speedy recovery, Godelieve!

They have provided the inspiration for another bookmark for the bookmark project.

Silly Scraps Saturday

So far my Silly Scraps all have drawing on them.  This one has stamps by Kelly Panacci, too.  You just never know what silliness will happen!

ICAD #66 & 67

July is coming to a close and I still have a few index cards left.  Anyone who is counting will notice that I've done more than one a day since June 1.  I do want to use them all up so I better get crackin'!

Stamp Challenge Continues

I'm making my way through my box of flower stamps in August, finding some old favourites and identifying some to give away.  (See this post for more on this project.)

This set of flower stamps was on my "doubtful" list, but I think I'll keep them now.  They're nice and big and offer solids and outlines, giving them lots of scope.

The background for this journal page is distress inks and stains over a few other miscellaneous layers in my old book journal.

Mixing Stamps

When my creative brain is working I like to mix stamps from different sources:

Playing with New Toys

I was playing recently with distress stains and a new JustRite background stamp.  This artist trading card was the result:

Totally Into Art Journalling

I've been totally into Art Journalling recently and have just watched a Saturday night video over at Journal Artista http://www.journalartistaart.com/. She's doing a series on stencilling and I thought I'd share a couple of attempts.

The Power of Thirds

I was playing with some clean and simple (CAS) cards last week, and was reminded again of the rudimentary design principle, "The Rule of Thirds".

For a good discussion of the "Rule of Thirds", see this tutorial by the Queen of CAS herself.

I hope everyone is enjoying these first days of spring!  Yippee!

Scraps Become Inchies

You may have read here that I have a passion for paper, and that I am loathe to throw it away.  I like to create things with envelopes, interesting packaging, and I save small pieces of scrapbook paper.

Here is an artist trading card I made with leftover pieces from some cards I created using alcohol ink:

Tea Time

The August swap for the Vancouver Artist Trading Card Group included Time, Telephones & Teapots themes.  This was my piece, and it illustrates how difficult I find "vintage".

Tea Time

I've been thinking about Black & White pieces too, lately, and so I tried this one, with some judicious use of masking:

Tea Time 2

If you want some Black & White inspiration, check out  Godelieve's work at Stamping Mathilda.  I love all of Godelieve's work, but I find her Black & White series particularly inspiring lately.

Friends

I met my wonderful friends at our local stamp club yesterday.  We played with some new techniques and learned some card "engineering".

This is a card I made based on one of last month's techniques, "Garden Walk".  I made it for the card swap at the club.

If you want to try it, you can drip alcohol ink on white glossy cardstock until the whole piece is covered.  Finish with a sprinkle of blending solution, and then use it to create something!  I stamped flowers on my piece.  Thanks, Stella!

Step on the Scale

Some of you may have heard me say how much I love alphabet stamps. How much do I love them? Well, let's just say that I have a few of them.

Michelle Ward at GPP Street Team is challenging us this month with size. Here are a few different size alphabets:

A Taste of Something Different

After some encouragement from my sister, Dianne, I thought I'd share with you a page from my Art Journal.  This is where I experiment with different techniques and don't worry at all about perfection.
