GoodBye 2018

The last month of 2018 has come and gone and it is time to evaluate and make changes.  I didn't end the collaborative calendar project as enthusiastically as I began it, but I did finish!

I don't think I posted November, so here it is:

I'm very happy about the change in my journaling practice, however.  I can thank Roz Stendahl for influencing me to consolidate to a single journal and I'm glad that I did.  I'm enjoying everything about it.  As I look back I see that this consolidation was a goal for 2018, so I can be satisfied that this has been accomplished.

As I think about what goals I might have for 2019, I'm contemplating the "art of letting go" and whether it might be time to let go of some of my rubber stamp collection.  Yet as I look at these last two months of the calendar project, I notice how many stamps I used!

Inktober - Days 7 to 12

The daily prompts were:

The collaboration on our calendars took a turn last week.  My sister has fallen in love with cross stitch, diamond painting, and knitting and hasn't been inspired to draw.  She's great at interpreting the prompts, though, so she helps me come up with ideas.  That's great collaboration, because my brain freezes at some of these.

Inktober - Days 1 - 6

My sister and I are participating in Inktober again this year; we're using our calendars to do a little ink drawing.  We're using the prompts provided by the organizer:

1. Poisonous
2. Tranquil
3. Roasted
4. Spell
5. Chicken
6. Drool

Two years ago at the Westcoast Calligraphy Society WOOL conference I took a Word Art class with the talented Carollyn Dallaire.  My August calendar page became "numeral art".

It was my sister Dianne's turn to pick the theme last month, and she chose "things that fly".  It was a challenge to think of so many things that fly; I think I cheated a bit.  LOL

Another Month Come and Gone

February's theme in the Collaborative Calendar Project was gratitude.  I began with watercolor but was forced by the cardstock of the calendar to switch to pencil crayon.  I'm enjoying this project so far and it is nice that Dianne and I alternate in choosing the theme.  For March she has chosen "things that fly"!  Time to get out the rubber stamps methinks...

Collaborative Calendar Project

My sister and I have begun a new calendar project.  The theme for January is paper.  I intended to do mine slowly, day by day, but Dianne tore ahead and covered all of her squares with paper and numbers.  I stuck to my plan for three days, but this morning I could resist no more and started gluing things down.  I'll add things (including numbers) as the month progresses, and I'm still playing with ideas for the top half of the calendar.
