Lettering for Love
The Westcoast Calligraphy Society's latest project is making bookmarks for residents and staff at one of the local care homes.
Participating is a chance to say hello, give thanks, and practice skills all at the same time!

Two for the Price of One
You can get two 6 1/2" x 5 1/2" flip flop fly cards from a single sheet of cardstock, so I made a second one.

Happy Holiday Art
Santa's elves have been busy making cards! They all took Joanne Sharpe's Art Sparks 5: Happy Holiday Art and made a selection of bright, cheerful cards.

Little Pockets
My book, Summer, includes some pockets. This makes the book interactive - you can pull the flowers out.
The little black pot is a pocket too.

Summer
I have finished the book project from Joanne Sharp's "Art Sparks2" class. This is the cover.
The book form is a concertina or accordian book, and here is one side of the book opened completely.
This is the other side of the book.
I'll post some more pictures of each page separately - you can also turn the pages like a regular book. It is a fun form, not one that I use a lot. I'm really enjoying this one though!

The Golden Mean Works!
![]() |
| Watercolor, Traveler's Notebook |
This journal page started with a not very good watercolor of some tacos, the #stillherestilllife challenge for Week 8. I didn't know what to do with the rest of the page, when I stumbled upon an outstanding lesson on the Golden Mean. Applying this concept of composition definitely saved this page.
Anyone who has studied art is familiar with the "rule of thirds", which is a rough approximation of The Golden Mean. Lindsay's explanation, which includes several good examples for journal and book page layouts has given me a template to play with in all my journals!

Filling up the Card Box
The birthday card box was empty again so I made a few cards with a (handcarved) shadow stamp and an old flower stamp from Hero Arts. The greeting is brush lettering.
Happy New Year, everyone!

Christmas Mail
One of the things I particularly enjoyed this Christmas was the overseas mail. The cards we received from Britain and Wales are different than you get here in North America, and it is so special to touch base with family and friends from afar!

Westcoast Calligraphy Society Lettering Lyrics Challenge
The Westcoast Calligraphy Society is having an Instagram Challenge. Each day there is a different Christmas carol to letter. Because it is such a busy time of year, gift tags were suggested - quick and easy! I forgot how much I love making tags!

Christmas Tree Lighting and Caroling
On Saturday our local merchants association lit the big Christmas tree on the church lawn. I led the carol singing, and came home full of the Christmas spirit. I was painting Christmas trees everywhere!
