Merry Christmas?

I made this card as a sample for my recent carving demonstration at the Cards, Cards, Cards night at the Westcoast Calligraphy Society.  The brush lettering was done using a Pilot Touch marker.

More Gelli Play

After my batch of card making, I was inspired to try some brighter colours.

Now I can't wait to make something out of these and to do some more printing with my small plate.

I made some cards out of the prints I made at a gelli plate play day.

The stamp is by Hero Arts.

What Are You Reading?

Artist Trading Card, Markers on Gelli Print

I received great feedback on my "Let's Do Coffee" artist trading card series, so I've begun a new series featuring people reading.

Whim 23

Now that my stamp carving demo is done, I'm returning to finish off Joanne Sharpe's Whims in Watercolor, Pen and Ink class.

I'm enjoying splashing around in the paint again, and doing some lettering.

#whenlifegivesyoulemons

I did a stamp carving demonstration at the Westcoast Calligraphy Society meeting this week, as part of a special evening of "Cards, Cards, Cards".  I carved a simple heart as part of the demonstration, but it got a bit scratched so I added the stripes to it yesterday.  #whenlifegivesyoulemons

Improving an Old Carving

Today I gave an old carved stamp a facelift, carving out some of the background.

Here is what it looked like before:

More People Do Coffee

In preparation for the Vancouver ATC Swap tomorrow, a few more people are having coffee.

I drew all of these little coffee shop scenes with a Sharpie onto scrapbook paper.

I then added colour with regular, water based markers.

Daffodils

..

No demonstration of hand carved stamps would be complete without the old daffodil stamp, would it?

For You

This is the card that the Westcoast Calligraphy Society decided to use on their website letting people know about the upcoming meeting.  I'll be doing a stamp carving demonstration.

Same Stamp Two Looks

By stamping on scrapbook paper, you can get a different look with the same stamp.  The first card could be used for any occasion; the second might make a Christmas greeting.

My First Hand Carved Stamp

This square card features the first stamp I ever carved.  It was carved with an X-Acto knife.

I'll add the calligraphy once the occasion has been determined.

Stamp Carving Demonstration

I've been busy making samples for a stamp carving demonstration I'll be doing later this month.

The Westcoast Calligraphy Society is featuring a meeting all about CARDS, CARDS, CARDS, and want me to show various ideas for using hand carved stamps on cards.  I'll also be showing how to carve a simple stamp, and there will be a chance for people to try it.

Reverse Piano-Hinge Book

I made this reverse piano-hinge book at the April Westcoast Calligraphy Society Meeting.  The instructor, Heidi Stolp, generously had all of the supplies cut and ready for us to assemble and decorate at the meeting.

This book structure requires no stitching.

Spring Bookmark

I made this at the March meeting of the Westcoast Calligraphy Society.  We have fun and diverse programs including calligraphy, bookmaking, journaling and other papercrafts.  The society is run by a group of talented and dedicated volunteers - you can find out more about them here.
