My friend Janice posted some photos on her blog from the recent Modernism Week in Palm Springs.  I can't be there to sketch these great buildings on location, but I did enjoy drawing this immensely!

Taking Time

I am an impatient sketcher.  Straight to pen, 5 minutes, and I'm done.  This time I took more time sketching Janice's favorite Lincoln, even starting with a bit of pencil to try to get the perspective angles right.  I think it's a better sketch, but it lacks some of the personality of the wonky ones.

Joanne Sharpe has announced a new class beginning mid-March.  The preview video inspired this lily. 

First Coffee Sketch

The coffee shop and indeed, the coffee, make frequent appearances in the journals of many urban sketchers.  As well as making interesting subjects, one advantage of the coffee shop setting are the tables.  I've never spent a lot of time in coffee shops, but I met an old friend for coffee recently.  I arrived early and did this quick sketch before she arrived. 

Magic Pencil

I find myself reaching for the "magic pencil" to draw with.  It's fun, pure and simple.
