Painting People as Shapes
I've been practicing painting people as shapes by painting models from the Talbots clothing catalogue. All of these were done by painting first and drawing second.

#oneweek100people
Marc Taro Holmes, Liz Steel and Suhita Shirodkar are running the OneWeek100People challenge again this year. The objective is to draw 100 people in one week, in order to improve your people drawing skills.
I might participate this year, so I've been strategizing about how to do that.
I think that it might be easier to "paint shapes" first and draw after, so I tried this out in my sketchbook. It took longer for the paint to dry than to do either the painting or the drawing. Speed is critical for drawing people in real life because they tend to move around.

New Sketch Bag
Well, OK, it is an old Amazon gift bag, but it fits my square sketchbook and field sketch kit. I can carry it to another room or toss it into a purse or backpack for those "urban sketching" expeditions.
