Artist's Play Room - Art With Words

It has been awhile since I played in the Artist's Play Room Challenge, but this week's challenge is art with words around it - right up an art journalist's alley!

Thanks to Penelope for this fabulous, bright idea!

Is it Spring Yet?

I wanted to try a colouring a few more stamped images with watercolour pencil so I stamped a few scenes using my Maryse Carrier Printemps set.  It was fun to make scenes out of these little stamps but as I'm writing this I feel like I should be drawing my own.  Then I could stick to more seasonal subjects LOL.  I'm loving the watercolour pencils though!

Japanese Artist Trading Cards

Inspired by Jill Foster,  I did these artist trading cards with watercolour pencils.  The pencils are great for getting in the tight corners of stamps, but allow the unexpected flow of watercolour in the larger background areas.

The geisha stamp is part of a Recollections set from Michaels.  The kimono is an unmounted stamp that was given to me by a generous friend at the stamp club on Granville Island; I'm afraid I don't know who makes it.

Silly Scraps Saturday

This is a simple collage made of scraps, done in my Scrap Journal.  I made my Scrap Journal with my Bind-It-All, especially to hold these "warm-up" collages.  When I want to make something but I'm not inspired to do anything specific, I make one of these.  One usually leads to two (or more).  I got the idea from iHanna's "Every Artist Needs a Scrap Notebook" post.

Every Saturday I post one of these simple collages.  Thanks for visiting my blog and I hope you are enjoying the weekend!

Seasonal Art

Like most artists, I'm very affected by the seasons, and moved by the incredible beauty they offer us.  And, like many artists, I often take my inspiration from nature.

These are Artist Trading Cards done with watercolour and pencil crayons.  The stamp is by Stampendous.

Paint My Photo

I found a wonderful site where "artists and photographers meet".  It is called Paint My Photo, and allows artists to paint from other people's photos without worrying about copyright issues.  Thanks to Martha Lever for sharing this site on her blog.

This is my impressionist rendition of an Autumn Road in Michigan.  It is done in PanPastel.
